Alarm set for an early start.  Coffee Thermos prepared.   Soup Thermos prepared.  Empty bags stowed in car.  Wellies, waterproofs, hats all stowed in the car.  Map at the ready, GPS plugged in.  A full morning of brocanting awaited us and we were keen to hit the road.

Sadly it is a truly disgusting, rainy, windy, cold day and when we reached our destination all that greeted us was a very soggy and entirely deserted car park!  Hey ho, I guess that’s the way it goes sometimes.  So, we sat in the car and drank our coffee and watched the rain lash across the car park in front of us.

(There would be a photograph of an empty car park here but I can’t find where I put my camera.)

Luckily we found another little brocante nearby that was in a village hall and I did manage to buy a couple of bags of beautiful linen and some pastis carafes so not a wasted morning.

We’re now back at home drinking our soup and warming ourselves in front of the log burner in the kitchen.  Toasty!
